The Architect's Newspaper's April 16th issue features an article about Bioscleave House, "Emotive Architecture" by William Menking.

"If architecture, as architects often remind us, is not simply about design and building but also about the ideas that architects bring to a site or project, then Bioscleave [House] should provoke architects to think more profoundly about the purpose, function, and even ability of their work to transform life and experience."

The University of Pennsylvania (Jean-Michel Rabaté) and the Slought Foundation (Aaron Levy) hosted the second International Arakawa + Gins · Architcture and Philosophy Conference/Congress. Philosopher Dorothea Olkowski gave the keynote address. Over thirty participants (including scientists, psychologists, philosophers, healthcare professionals, physicians, poets, architects and artists) delivered papers on their work and research in relation to the work of Arakawa + Gins at the University of Pennsylvania over the course of the three-day conference.

An exhibit "Reading Room" by Jondi Keane, Alan Prohm, Shaun Gallagher and Theo Lotz was installed at the Slought Foundation gallery. On Saturday night, April 5th, Daria Fain and Kathy Bruce each performed a piece at Slought Foundation.

The conference began online with a discussion with philosopher David Kolb and a paper by Nathan Brown.

Helen Keller or Arakawa

A team of translators headed up by Professor Momoko Watanabe has been at work on a Japanese translation of Helen Keller or Arakawa for, as it turns out, eight years.  The moment for publication of this translation has arrived at last – Fall 2007. Shinshokan will publish it Japan.

Marie Dominique-Garnier has recently begun a French translation of Helen Keller or Arakawa. Editions Hermann will publish it in France.
